Dillon Brown Scores Lake View Blue Ridge Outlaw Win

LAKE VIEW, SC (March 22) – Gaffney, SC driver Dillon Brown made his first trip to Lake View Motor Speedway Saturday night and left with his second career Blue Ridge Outlaw Late Model win.
After winning the fast qualifiers dash, Brown started on the pole and led the 25-car field into turn one at the start of the 40-lap feature. The caution waved on lap one after Mark Greene spun exiting turn four. Pat Lindsay also spun to avoid Greene’s machine. The caution flag waved again on lap 16, when Dalton Hodge spun in turn two and collected the cars of Greg Clarke and Jay Sessoms. Brown went unchallenged throughout the race to take the win over Matt Long, Jacob Brown, Michael Brown, and Jesse Rockett. Rounding out the top 10 were Bryan Mullis, Scott Shirey, Dan Breuer, Clark, and Kenny Compton, Jr.
Terry Caples held off a race-long challenge from Cameron Norris, IV to take the $1200 Street Stock win. Austin Rodonis had a strong third place run going early on, but a spin on lap nine in turn four took him out of contention for the victory. Former race winner, Joey Wilkes, also had a tough night spinning twice. Following Caples and Norris at the finish were Ryan Touchberry, Mike Manes, and Andrew Register.
Pole sitter Derrick McGrew, Jr. took the lead at the drop of the green flag and led every lap for the Sportsman Modified win over Kyle Whitney, Mike Bowman, JJ Williams, and Terry Knoblock.
After starting third, Tom Lovett grabbed the lead from Jason Floyd and never looked back to take the win in the Fred’s Tire & Auto Stock V8 division. The race began with a grinding crash that ended up with Mark Compton and Anthony Morris in the frontstretch wall. Kevin Johnson’s strong run ended after a flat tire with three laps to go resulted in him almost spinning in turn two and ultimately collected Scott Lewis. Following Lovett to the checkered flag were Floyd, Chucky Nicholson, Chris Gerald, and Derek Kemper.
Jesse Rockett led every lap for the win in the new American Racer 525 Modified division over Dylan Watson, Greyson Wells, Michael Thompson, and Austin Self.
The Crown Vics are Lake View’s newest division and Eugene Vaughn led every lap to take the win. Rounding out the top five were Tom Lovett, AJ Huffman, Greg Tumbleston, and Charley Hodge.
The next event at Lake View Motor Speedway will be Saturday night, April 5 and will feature the Late Models, Carolina Outlaw Super Streets, Street Stocks, Sportsman Modifieds, Fred’s Tire & Auto Stock V8s, SCDRA Sport Compacts, and INEX Legends.
